Anitha, from the Bettakurumba community successfully completed her BSc Nursing and has joined us. She is planning on doing her MSc in Nursing next year.
Divya, from the Paniya community; completed Bachelors in Pharmacy with distinction. She has started working in the community health program and is looking to pursue a Masters in Public Health.
They do us proud and set an example for the next generation to follow

Many other youngsters are doing equally well in several courses that they have gained admission to on merit.

The first batch 0f 20 ANM students completed their first year exam. The external examiner was full of praise and especially commented on the honesty and sincerity of the students. Kudos to the teachers! Another 20 have joined this year. The solemn lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony was a treat to the eyes. The proud parents participated.

We are all proud of him and happy to see him being recognised for his untiring work.

Research is a new activity that is gaining momentum having taken up many relevant “action” research projects.

The motivation levels of the entire team got a fillip with the weeklong leadership workshop conducted by Mrs.Julie George. The sense of responsibility is now more visible and the departments are all seriously planning their year’s activities along with the budgets.

A story to share…
Hospital has been busy as always. More surgical activity thanks to Dr Veena Sheshadri, an anaesthesiologist, joining us full time. Difficult to believe, GAH successfully did an Aorto bifemoral and aorto mesenteric bypass on a 35 year old Kattunaikkan patient with ischaemia of the bowel and severe pain due to a block in the aorta and mesenteric artery. Thanks to Dr Shivananda, a vascular surgeon volunteering with us, for relieving the patient of his pain.

The Govt supported Bed grant and SCD programs are ongoing.
The Medical Students and Nursing Elective programs are as active as ever. We have had a number of trainers from the PLENTI helping us in various aspects of the work.

Looking forward …..

We are looking at consolidating and improving the quality of services and further enabling the tribal team to take over the management of the hospital as well as the ASHWINI Board. A Management Committee consisting entirely of members from within the tribal community has been formed and it has been involved with the overall day to day running of the Health System. We have NABH certification and are working on improving the SOPs in the Hospital. Youngsters are being encouraged to join the team both in the hospital as well as in the areas to bring in fresh zeal & vigour.

Thank you friends,donors,volunteers
for having been with us on this journey.
We hope you will continue to do so as we forge ahead..
